Four Rules for spanish pronunciation

1. ends in a vowel, N or S, stress next to last syllable
2. Ends in any other consonant, stress last syllable e.g. cuidad, animal
3. All exceptions to 1 and 2 will be marked with an accent e.g. Fármaco, Comisión
4. Accents used to distinguish two otherwise identical words e.g. Tú (you) and tu (your) Él (he) el (the) Without seeing it written, words ending in “ia” are fifty fifty whether there is an accent over the “a"
